You don’t need to save up, or spend your life savings on a green car, or a hybrid from a big name brand, to be friendly to the environment. The car you are driving now can very well be “Environmentally Friendly” as long as you follow some tips. For example, ways to conserve gas is a great way to save money, and help the environment.
Many things can lead to the over consumption of gas. For example, low air pressure in your tires can create more resistance and you might use more gas to compensate. Keeping up with regular tune ups will also help, to be sure that everything is running as smoothly as possible, and handle any problems that could be costing you.
When you have the air conditioning serviced in your car, be sure the mechanics know how to handle the refrigerants. In old cars, the AC can contain fluids that have ozone depleting chemicals.
Check to see if your car uses Mercury to activate lights throughout your car, which is a highly toxic. Many AAA club members now offer a service that will switch the mercury to something less hazardous.
